Our Tub to Shower Conversion Process:

We begin our tub to shower conversion by cutting & removing a section from the side of the senior’s tub.  Next we transcribe (copy) the tub’s profile onto our Safeway Step® insert. This acrylic step is then cut, fit & sealed onto the senior’s bath tub, transforming their tub into an affordable step-in shower. And if additional safety is desired, we can install grab bars for a minimal charge. Our tub to shower remodel (retrofit) process is completed in one day with less cost, disruption & mess for the homeowner!  And when compared to a conventional bath tub to shower remodel, we estimate that with our Safeway Step installation, our clients can save at least $3,500! 

The removed tub cut section measures 24 inches across the tub sidewall & 8 inches down. On most bath tubs, this makes the retrofit step into the tub approximately 7”-8” high.  And with the tub cut extending only 8” down into the tub’s sidewall, a 3”-4” lip remains on the inside wall of the tub.  When this entry way is closed off with a shower curtain, shower water is easily contained inside the tub.
